Appearance: Maka is built like your average 13-year-old. Gangly and thin, Maka’s body has not yet fully developed (it’s a running joke throughout the series that she doesn’t have a chest--Soul Eater calls her “Tiny Tits” on a few occasions). Her eyes are green, and she keeps her blonde hair in pigtails. General Maka-wear includes a white shirt, tan vest, and green tie. She wears a red and black plaid school skirt and black ankle-high boots. When she and Soul fight she wears a black overcoat, open from the waist down, and white gloves.
Personality: Maka is a bookworm, through and through. While Soul is the brawn of any operation, Maka finds her place as the brain. Unfortunately, she tends to think too much at times, which places her away from the group when they want to do something (such as play basketball). This thoughtful nature also gets her in a bit of trouble during fights.
She is easily angered by males after watching her father cheating on her mother countless times in the past. This anger comes out readily when Soul is around Blair, especially since the cat’s human form appears naked a good portion of the time. She gets annoyed with the fickle nature of men rather easily, and won’t hesitate to tell them how utterly stupid they are with a book-to-the-head (appropriately named a “Maka Chop”).
However distracted by books and the flaws of men, Maka is a strong individual, and can be quite stubborn at times. Even though Soul is the weapon, she still finds the need to protect him and keep him safe as well. This is the cause of a few bad decisions on her part, and she is constantly focused on getting stronger so as not to put Soul in jeopardy again.
Abilities: Maka is a Meister. Her partner, Soul, is her weapon. Because she isn’t very strong, many of her abilities lie in her agility and her mind. Due to another weapon, Ragnarok, invading Soul’s blood with his own black blood, Maka has also gained this blood because of her soul resonance with Soul. Because of this, she’s a little more tuned to insanity, but Soul can help her out of this state once she realizes the situation. Maka can also see souls and sense what type of soul a person has, and can find in many cases where they are located. In Manhattan she will not lost this power completely, though she won’t be able to search for anyone with it, and in many cases she won’t be able to see unless the soul is extremely strong or the person opens up to her.
Weaknesses: She thinks too much. : /
She also gets angry fairly easily, and has a stubborn streak that would rival a mule.
Because she isn’t physically strong, Maka is careful about planning and thinking before acting. While this is good in a longe-range situation, it holds her back in battle. She focuses a lot on Soul’s well-being, which he constantly chides her for--he’s the weapon, there to protect, but she constantly worries about his safety as well. In one instance, this led to Soul getting a pretty good slice to the chest as he jumped in front of Maka because she wouldn’t move or use him to defend.

History: It is a goal of all Meisters to help their Weapons to become Death Scythes for Shinigami. Maka’s mother, a meister, helped Maka’s father, Spirit, to become one of eight current Death Scythes. Maka’s childhood, however blessed, was tortured by the constant knowledge of her father cheating on her mother. As such, Maka has, at times, extremely little faith in men.
Maka became a Meister herself, and met her Weapon, Soul, before the audience meets them. Together, they work to get Soul the 99 kishin souls and 1 witch soul needed for him to become a Death Scythe. Unfortunately, their first round was nullified when Soul accidentally ate a cat soul instead of a witch’s soul. As such, they’re working once more to get the lost souls back.
Recently, the witch Medusa has taken to causing complete chaos and insanity. She posed for a while as Shibusen’s school nurse and used this position to get inside information, and observe Soul and Maka when Soul’s blood is mixed with black blood. Because of this, Maka and Soul become much closer to insanity, and in a final battle against Crona they give in temporarily. During this time, Medusa frees Asura, a demon who thrives for insanity. Maka rushes to help her friends defeat him, but he escapes, and Maka passes out from the exertion of her previous fight, only to wake in Manhattan....
